  • Tunisia ..............?
I am going on Holiday with a friend to Tunisia on May 1st, and i was just wandering what people could tell me about the culture there? As i dont like tan lines i want to wear a thong bikini, What do the locals (being mostly muslim) think of this? and is it banned? also, does anyone know any nice resturants or beaches and shopping places to go?
Answer:I can answer your question easily because Tunisians, Algerians and Moroccans are all north africans and the part of North Africa I'm from is Algeria. Tunisians, Algerians and Moroccans are all the same people racially and culturally and if you were to go to Tunisia wearing a thong bikini the Tunisian people would not have any respect for you. This is because when you wear a bikini the bikini represents that you have no respect for the Tunisian culture. Don't forget your in a muslim country and your not in the west. If you want to wear a bikini then you should go to the hotel resorts they have in Tunisia and not to public beaches. By the way wearing a thong bikini is not banned but howver as I mentioned before wearing one symbolises that you have no respect for Tunisian culture. I don't know any nice restaurants or shopping places to go to however I've heard that the beaches in Tunis (Tunisia's capital) are stunning.

  • How to apply for a visa to visit tunisia?
Does anyone know if it's possible to apply for visa to visit tunisia for 3 years? Is it possible to apply for a landing visa in Tunisia? If so, how to apply it? Thanks!
Answer:The longest visa that is allowed in Tunisia is 90 days. People who wish to stay more than that must apply for a residence card, called a Carte de Sejour. There are restrictions as to who is eligible for a Carte de Sejour though. These restrictions include staying with a Tunisian family or a legal resident of Tunisia, being employed in Tunisia, or being married to a Tunisian or legal resident of Tunisia. It is an application process and not guaranteed that they would be approved. Even if your parents were able to get a Carte de Sejour, it does expire every year and they would have to reapply. It takes about 3 months from the time they apply for a Carte de Sejour until the time they are able to pick it up. Once they have a Carte de Sejour they will be considered residents of Tunisia, and they will be required to pay the 60TND stamp fee eah and every time the wish to leave the country. To get the Carte de Sejour, your parents must apply at the police station of the sector in which they will reside for authorization to stay. They will need to give them: -Their passports -4 identity photos each -Documentary evidence of accommodation (their rent agreement; the title deed that they own property; or a written statement from a Tunisian or local family who is putting them up) -Evidence of their means of support (their employment contract if it mentions salary; a bank’s statement of their account and/or transfer payments made to them in Tunisia) -They will need to tell them why they wish to remain in Tunisia (things they look for are: a contract of employment properly endorsed by the local authorities; and/or a contract with a foreign employer and his company’s legal status in Tunisia) -They must each pay a 10TND fee Like I said, the police will then review the application, and decide if they qualify for the Carte de Sejour. If they do, it will take approximately 3 months for them to get their Residence Card (Carte de Sejour). Here is a link that talks about how to do this, but they make it sound more complicated that it is: http://www.sicad.gov.tn/sicadnspc/fr/script/conditions.asp?detail=8&pcodm=2&pcodorg=3&pcoddomaine=9 If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.

  • How and where can one rent a motorcycle in Tunisia with an international motorcycle license?
I will be traveling to Tunisia with a friend of mine in the beginning of October. We really would like to see at least part of the country on a motorcycle with at least a 250cc engine. Also, we would like to get some camping done. How feasible is this plan?
Answer:Unless you bring your own motorcycle, it's not very feasible. While there are motorcycles here, they are scarce. The most common thing you will see here are motor bikes - mopeds. Your best bet would be to check with the big name auto rental places (the smaller ones definately would not carry a motorcyle) and see if they have any.
