How did Spain contribute to the conquest of the worlds oceans?

  • What is the problem with Spain and their different nations?
as we know we seen many spanish nations that want their independence from the Kingdom of Spain, mostly we seen this movement by Catalunya and Basque. Do you think this movement from independence will at the end lead to their independence? If it does, what impact will it have on Spain and on these nations?
Answer:Neither Cataluña nor the Vascongada nor Galicia ever were a nation i the sense of state. Cataluña was part of the the Crown of Aragón and the other two belonged always (nearly) to the crown of Castilla. All of them were only different in their way to speak. Both Catalan y Gallego are descending from Latin like Castillano (Spanish). Euskera (Bask language) was up to about 1850 only spoken in the villages. With the romanticism it was revived and brought back to a larger scale. If they leave the Spanish state, they will be automatically be so called 3rd states to the European Union (like India or Burkina Faso) with tax borders around them. This will hurt their business (the main reason for their dream of independence) badly. Then they have to prove that their inflation rate will meet the standards of the EU. And after that all of the EU-members will have to agree to their acceptance into the EU. But, because both Cataluña and Vascongada claim also French territories, it will not be sure that the other EU embers will accept such behavior. I really doubt that those 3 will separate from Spain. They use it as kind of pressure against the government in Madrid to get more rights and money than the rest of Spain.
