Have you ever been to Germany. if so what do u think about it. What do you think of the language? Is there a lot of slang in it?
Answer:YEs, Ive been to Munich, Cologne, Hamburg, and found myself in a small town called Renchtal once (DONT ASK!!! LOL!!) Germans are very friendly people, but arent afraid of being brutally honest either. Sometimes they may seem rude to you, especially in the northern cities. Though Hamburg is an AWESOME town, and if you go in the summer, expect the sun to just be setting in the sky at 10pm. The Southern Germans are more laid back than their northern comrades. And the Autobahn is a lot of fun, just dont get stupid.
Germany started world war one and two. the first war put them in a really bad depression; it was so bad it was cheaper to burn money for heat then pay for it. Then some how 21 years after the end of world war one, they create an army that was powerful enough to take on the rest of Europe thus starting world war two. what made Germany so powerful they could create both world wars, was it their advance engineering? or something else. also how could they recover from a debt so fast? I'm guessing they don't have the amount of natural resources as America, and America still had trouble recovering from their debt. Germanys debt just seem to went away. how did Germany overpowered both France (powerful army) and england (worlds best navy).
Answer:This Question is a great question; however, you could write 100 pages and not answer fully. I'll attempt to write an introduction to your answer. 1st, Germany did not start World War One. Several factors contributed to the Great War. 1. Imperialism- countries came into conflict b/c of competition for resources and influences. 2. Militarism- To protect investment, nations developed great military might and wanted to use it. 3. Nationalism- Peoples loyalty shifted further from the church and their regionilized culture to national pride. 4. Alliances- Powerful nations promised to lend aid to their satalite territories leading to global conflict. 5. The Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinan by Gaverillo Princip- This sole event ingnited the polarization of the World into two camps. After World War I, all of Europe was left destroyed. It was said that this war would be the war "to end all wars". Yet, without any precedent, national leaders made fatal mistakes that would lead to World War II. Two causes stand out in my mind. 1.Isolationism- Countries no longer wished to get involved with one another's conflicts. Allowing Fascism to take hold in Germany and Italy. 2. Debt- Natuarally the victors expected nations that lost to pay the bill. There inability to do so contributed to the Great Depression and resentment from Germany towards their debtors. Hyperinflation was so severe that poor German children would build huge play houses using German currency. Many poor families burned the money for warmth. Hitler viewed himself as the man responsible for re-establishing naitonal pride in Germany. Hitler saw the sitution simply as a choice. Live in debt as slaves to his western neighbors or make those who blamed Germany for the war pay and re-establish Germany as a imperialistic power. After World War II, we thankfully learned from our mistakes and forgave Germany's debt and helped them rebuild their industry (at least in West Germany). Germany was undoubtably militaristic and had a great military at the start of World War II. However, he was never powerful enough to take on western powers. He won France by utilizing Blitzkreig (lightning War) and bombarded Britain from the air. If the world was not suffering from isolationism, the war would have been over much more quickly. He greatest mistake was to end his alliance with Russia and to create a two-front war. He never had the most powerful military in terms of capability. He simply was the most mobilized. Why? He knew war was coming; everyone else refused to believe it. I hope that helps..
How far by hours are the US military bases away from these cities in Germany-Berlin,Munich,Cologne,and Hamburg Thanks for the response;I just dont want to go no where near the base area There's no bases near Berlin right?
Answer:Which base are you talking about there are a ton of them all over former West Germany. If you want to avoid American bases at all price go to former East Germany there are NO American bases there due to the contract wich reunited Germany in 1990. One of the conditions Russia made was no American troops on East German soil
I'm visiting my Aunt & Uncle in Frankfurt Germany in two weeks. Are there any items from America that someone from Germany would really like to have? I would appreciate any suggestions in what type of gift to bring them. Thank you, in advance, for your help!
Answer:I would maybe recommend something that is local and special to your region and area as a product. Like in Vermont I would bring Maple syrup and cheese. I could not bring Ben & Jerry's Ice cream of course lol. I find that getting something that is special to your area is always good especially if it can be used for smell, or eating, something that will also have some form of entertainment or value beyond dust collecting LOL. Have fun on your trip. I have even brought Hershey bars before because their chocolate IMO is better and I wanted to compare an average American chocolate bar versus a Milcka Shocolade bar. I am sure what ever you do will be excepted warmly.
How Bavaria is different from the rest of Germany? I am going to visit Austria and Munchen this summer. I suspect that Bavaria in terms of language, culture, and historical traditions closer to Austria than Germany. Are there any cities in Northern Germany that really different from Bavaria? How accurate my impression of Germany would be after visiting Munich? In other words, is this a Bavarian city/capital or a German city?
Answer:Bavaria - the countryside where I live in - is probably more liberal than you would expect. Bavaria is a big state (in fact, Germany's biggest), and we're used to doing things our own way and we're famous for not caring about the federal government. Some people call us "little Texas", and maybe that's what we are. The famous German writer Goethe (or was it Schiller?) named us "a stubborn mountain folk", but whoever it was, he copied from an ancient Roman writer who wrote the same. We're not really conservative here; when I was a young voter, it was Bavarians who first voted the Greens into regional parliaments. Here in Bavaria, we're not much concerned about federal politics, unless it concerns us; and I think and sincerely hope that in this year's federal elections, Bavaria will take revenge on those politicians who cheated and mistreated us and the German people. Be ready for a surprise. Bavaria is big, and we have common vote here. We ousted the long-lasting conservative government in our state by just a few percent, but we did it. Who says we can't oust the federal government?
